NovaSed Behind the Scenes

Where Innovation and Care Come Together

To provide your clinic with the best possible service, we need to get to know you. Now, we’d like to give you a chance to get to know us.

How It All Started

NovaSed was founded by CRNAs, driven by their personal experiences, industry expertise, and a shared commitment to improving the quality of anesthesia care provided in outpatient medical facilities.

Patients often get lost in confusing and complex medical systems. After many years in the fast-paced, metric-heavy hospital systems, the founding partners at NovaSed noticed a need for strong anesthesia partnerships in many clinic-based sedation and anesthesia models. That need was defined by limited options that helped both the patient and the clinicians alike to reduce their stress and worry when it comes to sedation and anesthesia provision within the office setting.

This inspired our founding partners to create NovaSed — a new anesthesia management solution designed by anesthesia professionals to benefit all parties involved — the patient, the clinic, and the anesthesia providers. Together, we bring a more comprehensive approach to anesthesia management, committed to your patients’ well-being and your clinic’s success. We will be by your side the entire way, establishing, maintaining, and scaling our model to your needs.

Our Name

While we understand there are many providers who may opt to handle sedation and anesthesia administration themselves, we also realize that there is room for an alternative service that is able and willing to navigate all the challenges that accompany such a large endeavor. Options in that category can feel limited. Therefore, Non Nova, Sed Nove – a Latin proverb that means, “Not new things, but in a new way” – hence, NovaSed. And that is our approach – we have not re-created sedation, we have simply re-evaluated the approach and process as a comprehensive anesthesia management service.

Our Vision

There is an ever-growing demand for sedation and anesthesia in a vast array of outpatient settings, dentistry and oral surgery certainly being a few examples. With that in mind, NovaSed is constantly striving to adapt and present an alternative to healthcare providers and patients alike regarding their anesthesia needs. We are always looking for ways to improve and regions in which to expand our business.

Leadership

The founding partners of NovaSed are Ethan Wing and Eric Wrenn, both Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) who have been driven to advance their careers in a number of different ways. Each partner was trained in large academic settings and was therefore taught to be constantly looking for opportunities to improve the ever-changing world of anesthesia. Both welcomed the challenge of creating a new approach to sedation administration and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ethan Wing

After graduating undergrad from Malone University, Ethan spent time working at Duke University before attending Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia in North Carolina. From there, Ethan went on to work at a large academic hospital for many years where he met his eventual NovaSed founding co-partner, Eric Wrenn. Ethan is a long-time member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiologists and the South Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists.

Eric Wrenn

Eric obtained his undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. After gaining invaluable experience in critical care settings in various academic centers in Cleveland, Ohio, Eric decided to further his education at the University of Pittsburgh Nurse Anesthesia program. For over twenty years, Eric has practiced anesthesia in a variety of settings across the Midwest and Southeast.
