When we begin providing anesthesia services to any clinic, regardless of whether or not they currently administer sedation, we perform an assessment of the facility from an anesthesia perspective to ensure that sedation can be safely administered. In addition, standard guidelines and procedures are designed specifically for the needs of that clinic in regard to the sedation administration, in line with your state and various professional organizational requirements. There is a fee to complete these objectives, but it may be different for various clinics based on your specific situation. No charges will be applied without knowing beforehand. NovaSed is committed to maintaining the lowest cost possible without affecting the safety or the quality of the anesthetic. We have standard fees that are very competitive and have been thoroughly researched. The patient pays the clinic for the entire procedure, sedation included, at the standards of the clinic’s specific billing agreement. This prevents confusion and multiple billing statements for the patient. NovaSed subsequently invoices the clinic on a regular basis for the charges incurred by patients completed in the billing cycle. NovaSed does not directly charge patients for services rendered and also does not engage with any insurance companies for patients. Rather, NovaSed invoices the clinic on behalf of services rendered for each sedated or anesthetized patient. This allows us to remain seamlessly integrated into the care team rather than create the appearance of a contracted service and makes payment for the patient easier. Our fees are established using national anesthesia cost and fee data and are intended to be as cost-effective for both patients and clinicians alike.

Insurance coverage can be a moving target depending on the procedure and specialty in question. Specifically within dentistry, we have found that many insurance companies will provide some coverage, but it may be insignificant or can only be claimed once a year. As with any patient charges, it never hurts to ask, and in our experience, many times, there will be an adjustment.

All the anesthesia providers employed by NovaSed maintain active clinical practices in the hospital setting in addition to their office/clinic-based practices. They are skilled in multiple anesthetic approaches and techniques, making them ideal candidates to respond to any situation that might arise in the clinic setting. That being said, our anesthesia providers can utilize a wide variety of anesthetic techniques determined by your specific needs and intended procedures while adhering to regulatory standards based on the state sedation permit that we will help you obtain. Oftentimes in dentistry, we employ moderate sedation using IV administration of medications. Which type of anesthesia you may request or employ will be part of the design process that we will complete with you at the beginning of our partnership.

Our anesthesia providers interact with all ages on a daily basis, so we would absolutely consider partnership with a clinic that has a need for more pediatric sedation or anesthesia. NovaSed partners with all types of dentistry, oral surgery practices, and ambulatory or outpatient clinics alike. There are no limitations or restrictions based solely on a practice's specialty. That being said, we are also very aware that every specialty will have individual requirements and expectations when it comes to sedation and anesthesia. We take the individual needs of all specialties into consideration in order to deliver the best service possible.

All anesthesia providers that partner with NovaSed maintain all professional, national, and state credentials that are required to practice. All NovaSed employee partners also maintain ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications. Additionally, they all maintain individual malpractice in compliance with regulatory requirements. The credentialing for anesthesia providers is maintained by NovaSed and may be requested at any time from any partner clinic.

Currently, NovaSed maintains contracts only within North and South Carolina. However, we have researched markets in many different states and would certainly partner with clinics nationwide. Please contact us wherever you may be practicing, and we will be happy to evaluate the process in your state.
